Training Journals, Web Pages, and Blogs for the Jedi

I really gain a lot from reading of other Jedi's experiences... Particularly their training journals and blogs.

For one, I don't feel quit so oddly alone... heh...

I also get insights that help me with my own Path.

Best of all - I feel I get to know the other Jedi far better.

I also like blogs where we can respond - the interraction is more personal, less official, and often interesting and fun.

Jedi Groups

I decided to perhaps start a new fun discussion topic.

I am wondering how many people are involved in offline Jedi groups? To make things easy we will call a group of 2 or more people that meet together to grow in the Jedi Path.

What types of things do you as a group do for study or training?

Does your group have ranks?

What are the standards of measurement for these ranks?

Jedi Manual and Jedi Websites

I am known for saying that I believe every Jedi who claims to be a Jedi Knight or a Jedi Master should be able to create a Jedi Website that is essentially their Jedi Manual that they use in their own lives. personally I support webs.com because the site is so easy even I was able to do sites there with no issues and I do not understand coding or anything of that nature. You give the content and it puts it where you want it to go.

Setting and Meeting Standards

This is not the standard we use in the Kansas Knight, but I believe it would serve as a good example.

Lets say we agree that this will be the Basic Standards we as a community would recognize as a Jedi Knight within the Jedi Order

1. Read Either I Jedi, or The Jedi Academy books.
2. Read entire NJO books.
3. Study Tao Te Ching, the 5 rings, and the art of war
4. At least a black belt in on of the following Taekwondo,...

Being a Jedi

I personally believe that the greatest issue we face in the Jedi community is that we have is that we are busy fighting over what a Jedi is, how a Jedi should act, what a Jedi should believe and so forth. I believe that until we as a community stop fighting each other and start working with each other we will continue to be a online community and well never reach the full potential of what we can be.

Jedi Titles and Ranks -
Yeah or Nay?

Some view ranks/titles needed for organizational purposes. Others view them as an extension of the fiction and should be adhere to so we can aspire to be more like the fiction (within realistic terms of course). Others believe titles/ranks are one of the major downfalls and continual failures of the Online Community.

What are your thoughts and views?

It was nice to get back to JEDI and read over some of the older posts. I do however wish some of my more memorable posts would still be here such as Christianity and the Sith but well it was good to see how things were before the break.

I thought I left this board 07, not 08, but oh well.

Finding the Jedi community when I came back was next to impossible.

I am having trouble locating a place where communication flows steadily. So far I have found sites that don't exist any more or forums that have little or no activity. I seek a place where communication flows like a rushing river, not a dripping pipe. I have come across many sites with lots of information, and even some with large memberships, but all having very few active users. Often as Jedi we tend to get a singular focus going on. We focus on one aspect and consider that a MAIN point of being a Jedi. Like Patience or Compassion (not that I personally agree with compassion).Even in Academies or lessons, we get singular ideals at a time. Meditation one lesson, Peace the next, humility the next.

So things are currently in a state of construction. As such there is a lot of moving around and mess. I cannot offer a lot of direction at this exact moment. When a new person comes to the Jedi Community or JEDI, they tend to look towards the older members for some guidence. The ones who have been here and doing what we do for some time. The prolem with this in our Community currently, is that the "leaders" the "examples" of our Communtiy have not really progressed much since they ventured here.

So it falls upon the new members, the younger members to be the foundation...
